A common problem faced with fasteners, is the very short lifetime of it. If these fasteners are not handled properly. Replacing them very often isn’t an easy job! Here are some To-Do’s you need to follow when using fasteners.

  1. Choose the correct grade

Most of us ignore the gradings. The gradings are for a reason which helps you get the most appropriate fastener for your need. The grading of the fastener pictures the quality of the steel, thus helps us decide the fastener that we need to select depending on the environment it is going to be exposed.

  1. Selecting the correct nickel composition fasteners

Though we find a varying price ranges of fasteners, what we should keep in our mind is not about choosing the cheapest, but choosing the correct fastener. Choosing low nickel fasteners may be cheaper when compared, but the durability and resistance to corrosion is questionable. Therefore chose the best composition of nickel when choosing stainless steel fasteners.

  1. Keep the exposed surface free from contamination

Contaminated surface favours quick corrosion thus leading to rusting. Make sure the exposed surface is clean, the common contamination occurs when the fastener surface gets filled with metal dusts and fillings. The best precaution is to keep the surface covered during operations.

  1. Select smooth finishing fasteners.

Rough surfaces on the fasteners entrap particles and speeds up corrosion. Purchase g=fasteners from a trustable place which provides you best quality, smoothly finished fasteners which makes your life less hassle.

  1. Improper cleaning Schedule

Fasteners may not be a huge part of the machine, structure. But improper cleaning will cause a huge trouble in the long run. Make sure you clean the structure regularly so that the fastener surface is clean and free from contamination.

  1. Lubricate the fastener threads

Regular lubrication of threads makes it last long and provides protection from wear and tear.  Regular greasing of fastener threads will make them last for a long time.
